TRAINING COURSES
1. Introduction to Purchasing training course
An ideal buyer training course for people new to the Procurement function. It covers the role of purchasing for
the organisation, looks at what purchasing should be trying to achieve and suggests a range of options to ensure
success in meeting those targets. The course covers Procurement Planning, Supplier Selection, Tendering and Adjudication,
Post Tender Negotiation, Placing the contract and Managing the contract.
2. Negotiating for Profit training course
The course provides clear common sense principles and a logical framework for buyers involved in negotiation at
any level. It answers the most common questions asked by potential negotiators. "How do I control a negotiation ?" and
"When do I walk away?" The course covers objective setting, verbal and non-verbal behavior, conflict
resolution, and the importance of relationships in negotiation. The event features a highly interactive blend of
lecture, discussion and role-play.
3. Strategic
Procurement using Active Commodity Management
This is a Course for enthusiasts wishing to push Procurement into undertaking
a leading strategic role as an upstream, proactive operation capable of delivering massive financial and quality
benefits to any organisation.
4. Sales & Marketing training course for Purchasing Professionals
In many organisations professional purchasing struggles to be valued in relation to the benefits that it supplies.
After all everyone considers that they are a buying expert and enjoys doing their own thing!!! This Course offers
solutions to the problem of raising the status of the profession by effectively selling and marketing our expertise
to colleagues within the organisation, with the objective of becoming the recognised custodians of good business
practice in all matters relating to expenditure. The Course can be run over one or two days. As with all our other courses it can also be run as a one
or two person Master Class.
Alternatively you can read my book on the subject entitled "Purchasing Performance - Measuring, Marketing & Selling the function". Also see foot of this page.
5. NEW Strategic Purchasing Management NEW
Buying should be an upstream, proactive operation. All too often the organisation forces it to be a transaction
based, reactive, "fire fighting" function. This course helps you change all that.
We also present it as a one-to-one Master Class that gives you the opportunity to take advantage of our consultancy expertise to obtain
independent impartial advice on your business, in addition to the training.
6. Improving Purchasing Performance training course
A one or two day course that
aims to promote all the latest best in class techniques that can truly make Purchasing a high contribution profit
centre. It covers key areas such as objectively measuring buyer performance, vendor rating and supplier improvement
programmes.
7. Understanding Buyer and Supplier Interfaces
Another new BuyingSkills course, but on a subject that is absolutely vital for Buyers to get right.
8. Ethics and Principles - the mark of a professional buyer
This course examines the importance of maintaining high standards of ethics in purchasing. It looks at arguments used to "persuade"
buyers that inducements are legitimate and through stimulating discussion, explains the pillars of an ethical code
that will protect both the buyer and their organisation from accusations of impropriety. Purchasing fraud can develop into a huge problem, don't let it happen to your organisation.
9. Print Buying training
Because of the complex interactivity between the creative and mechanical processes every print job (except for
straight reprints) is bespoke therefore it is not like buying just another commodity. To consistently obtain value
for money it pays to have some knowledge of the various processes and the vast choice of papers available. Our
course majors on the importance on cost analysis to be able to objectively measure and benchmark the value offered
against the vast amount of baffling jargon that the industry is bedeviled with. Can be offered as a one or two
day course.
If print purchasing is a major part of your job it may be worth your while considering taking this print buying course as a one or two person Master
Class.
10. Buying for the Non-buyer course - "The Art of Buying"
For people that only spend part of their time buying, a day to learn and practice in workshops the techniques that purchasing professionals employ
in order to cut money saving buying deals.
11. Bespoke purchasing training to meet your special needs
We can also design procurement training packages to meet your individual need on almost any subject pertaining to purchasing
and the supply chain. Running courses in-house or local to you is usually the most cost-effective choice but we
would not seek to impose this option.
Value for money
If you nominate 8 people for a one-day course and you supply the venue it will cost around £125 per person.
Beat that for superb value purchasing training!

Reviews
'The practical advice provided throughout this book is presented in a no-frills, snappy style that ensures the essential information is not lost in a clutter of unnecessary detail. ...This is an excellent volume that in every sense is a handbook for procurement specialists and beginners alike.' Economic Outlook and Business Review (Dec 06)
'An ideal guide for any buyer that aspires to be a procurement manager. It goes beyond the mere process manual and explains purchasing’s role at the heart of a successful organisation. I particularly approve of the way that Roylance stressed the need for purchasing to act as an example of good practice in business ethics. It distills a lifetime of experience in purchasing into an easily digestible read full of wisdom.'
Trevor Kitching, Director, ACS Supply Chain Consultancy Ltd
'Written in Roylance's humorously dictatorial style, the book condenses a year's worth of instruction into one handy volume. It covers everything you need to know and consider when engaging your internal customers on procurement's offer to your company. ...Well done.' Supply Management (CIPS Members magazine)'.
